Material from indent to site, with stock that adds up.

Material indent

An indent records what the site needs and when.

  • Material and quantity
  • Required date
  • Priority

Store issue

The store works from a clear view of each indent and each material.

  • Available, issued and remaining quantities
  • Cannot issue more than requested
  • Cannot issue more than available

Shortfall to Purchase

When stock cannot cover an indent, the store issues what it has and sends the rest straight to Purchase. Nobody re-enters the requirement.

  • Shortfall calculated from indent and stock
  • Requirement sent to Purchase

Delivery and history

The site engineer confirms delivery. Every stock movement is recorded with who, what, how much and when — and that history cannot be edited.

  • Site confirmation of delivery
  • Stock history: who, what, quantity, when
  • History cannot be edited

Rules built into Material Inventory.

  • Stock never goes below zero

  • Issues cannot exceed the requested quantity

  • Issues cannot exceed the available quantity

  • Stock history cannot be edited

  • Delivered material becomes stock only after QC passes

Questions about Material Inventory

  • The store issues what is available and sends the remaining requirement directly to Purchase, where it becomes part of the RFQ process.
